Psychological Testing and Evaluation
A psychological evaluation and assessment is performed when a social, emotional or behavioral concern is noticed and the cause needs to be determined. The problem(s) can appear in many realms including inappropriate behavior and mood states, a change from previous functioning, and/or an inability to perform up to expected standards. Our goal is to help an adolescent's or child's emotional, educational and/or vocational life become more satisfying and successful. Through comprehensive clinical interviewing and a battery of psychological tests, a wealth of information can be garnered to aid in effective treatment planning. All assessments are tailored to our client's needs in order to understand the underlying issues presenting. A detailed and comprehensive report with recommendations is provided.

Psychoeducational/Academic Testing and Evaluation
When children are having difficulty in school or with learning based activities, they often benefit from an analysis of their strengths and weaknesses to help develop more effective learning strategies. To assist in this analysis, Equilibria Psychological and Consultation Services offers comprehensive psychoeducational assessment services conducted by a certified school and/or clinical psychologist. Testing includes the following areas: academic, intellectual, emotional, attention and concentration and sensory-motor.
In addition, a psychologist meets with caregivers to gain a thorough understanding of the child's developmental history and current learning issues. Recommendations are then made with all the information gathered in order to provide the child, parents and school with specific strategies tailored to the child's individual learning needs and/or behavioral issues.

Neurodevelopmental/Neuropsychological Issues & Diagnosis
Neuropsychological assessment addresses learning differences, attention problems and other educational concerns with the added perspective of how the brain processes information. Integrating developmental, social, emotional and biological factors, the neuropsychological evaluation helps further elucidate an individual's processing style. This helps to form educational planning and therapeutic strategies and recommendations.

Private School Admissions and Giftedness Testing
Many private schools and giftedness programs require aptitude testing as part of their admissions process. Commonly know as “IQ” tests, they can only be administered by a Licensed Psychologist or Certified School Psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania. We offer testing by licensed psychologists who will:
- Get to know and engage your child prior to testing, thus reducing anxiety
- Administer the WPPSI-III to children under 6 years of age and the WISC-IV to ages 6 and above to determine their intellectual ability range, strengths and weaknesses
- Administer other testing on an as-needed basis including, but not limited to: visual-motor integration, school readiness, developmental, social and giftedness assessments. Please note that we also conduct full psycho-educational assessments.
- Can conduct an optional observation in the child’s current school environment
- Can gather data from multiple sources including educators, parents, day care workers and others.
- Provide you with a detailed written report containing both standard scores and a narrative explaining the data in lay terms
- Provide you with a feedback session during which the psychologist reviews the report with the family ensuring that they understand the results as well as the limitations of such data. They psychologist can also provide consultation on appropriate school/grade placement based on your child’s strengths and needs.
- Send reports to schools and programs upon request
